CHARACTER INFOCharacter Name: Robin
Character Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
History: HereAU History: Details PMed to the moderator account. For purposes of current history, Robin awoke near Caldera with no memories the same time her male counterpart did. When Gigas left the city, Robin was free to leave it as well, and she chose to come to Union.
Canon Personality: Robin is, first and foremost, an extremely intelligent individual. She's the chief tactician in an army, and has earned the respect of friends, allies, world leaders, and even enemies in this role. Her knowledge of battle and combat tactics is amazing. She's always working to expand her knowledge as well, and can often be found reading a book if there's downtime. During battle, Robin is able to accurately gauge the flow of battle, rework her plans, make split-second decisions, and even create completely new battle strategies as needed.
Despite her tactical nature, Robin tends to be blunt and honest when dealing with others. She certainly knows how to be well-mannered, but she has no qualms on calling out royalty on their own lack of manners, or flat-out call a stalker creepy. She doesn't really let her honesty roll over into straight rudeness, but if she thinks she's gone too far, such as when she told Tharja that she would rather she were more normal, she has no qualms with admitting her mistake and apologizing.
She tends to react with fluster, embarrassment, or anger, or some combination of the three, when the situation warrants it. Despite knowing it's not his fault in her mind, she still reacts violently to Chrom's intrusion of the female bathing tent, and then reacts equally violently when
she enters the male bathing tent. This isn't too odd, but it's worth noting that, despite being incredibly intelligent and tactical, when emotions run over, she runs with those emotions. So to speak.
Robin is a
firm believer in the power of the bonds forged through battle and friendship. She believes those bonds trump gods, fate, and everything else. She makes several speeches throughout the game saying as much. Indeed, when she faces Grima, it's those bonds which allow her to overcome the magic cast against the group. When she sacrifices herself to destroy him, it's those bonds which bring her back. Because of this, she really, truly, and deeply cares about all of her friends, her family, and her comrades. REALLY. TRULY. DEEPLY.
Because of both her incredible intelligence and her great belief in the power of the bonds forged between people, Robin is incredibly perceptive when dealing with others. She can often make good judgment calls on others, and can often see past the masks a person wears... past their persona, so to speak. Anyway, this skill allows her to get to the heart of a person's troubles quickly, and allows her to forge stronger bonds. Other people note how she is able to draw in people and make friends, and this is one of the reasons why.
AU Deviation: I intend to keep Robin’s personality and skillset much the same, but there will still be some key differences due to the setting. Robin will still have skill in large army tactics, but with more of a focus on small-scale tactics as well, applying to smaller teams and incorporating Pokémon. Since those skills aren’t in too high demand in places like Caldera and Union, though, she’ll also spend more of her time studying other things, like ancient languages and Pokémon.
Besides the slight change of focus in her knowledge and skills, I intend to keep her personality the same due to the lingering effect of her AU history outlined with the mods, as opposed to male Robin who’s able to focus on the lighter aspects of his personality. This, however, will likely lead to unrest and some social awkwardness in Union as her skills aren’t in quite the dire need there, so I’ll be looking forward to playing that out and seeing where that leads her.
Canon Abilities: Robin has the rare ability (in game) to switch to ANY class open to any female unit, with the exception of manakete and taguel which are racial classes. (Her male counterpart can switch to any male class.) Her normal class and its superior form, Tactician and Grandmaster, are kind of her default class and what I usually go with in concerns to canon – those classes are available ONLY to her and her children. As a Tactician or Grandmaster, she has equal skill in both magic and sword, as well as support abilities to bolster her allies. In addition to her abilities as stated by game mechanic, Robin is an excellent strategist, as outlined in her personality section.
Enlightened Abilities: Robin is a
Dark/Dragon dual-type
Analyst.
In terms of abilities, Robin will be taking a different path than her male counterpart and instead focus on the aspects of Grima, with more of a focus on dark magic and draconic heritage. Her general skills will still be a mixture of sword and sorcery, and the "skills" of Fire Emblem nature will be drawn from Tactician, Grandmaster, Sorcerer, and Mercenary route.
In her initial form, Robin appears human, with the exception of a
brand on her hand. When she activates some of her powers, the brand glows, as do the eyes sewn into her trademark robes. In this form, she has better-than-average eyesight in the dark, low-level darkness-element spells, and decent sword skill boosted by a few dragon-type abilities. She also gains the
Veteran and
Solidarity skills, following the Tactician class of canon. (Experience boost when working in a pair/group and a boost to critical rates and critical evasion to nearby allies, respectively.)
In her second form, her eyes will turn purple and slitted like a dragon’s, and they will also glow when accessing her power. In addition, when accessing her power a pale dark aura will appear around her. Her repertoire of spells will increase to more powerful darkness-elemental spells, status-inducing spells, and low-level spells of wind (flying) and thunder. Her physical abilities will exceed normal human limits thanks to her dragon-typing as well. She’ll gain the
Ignis skill of the Grandmaster class, allowing her to add her S. Attack to moves normally using Attack and vice-verse, adding Attack to her S. Attack skills, and the
Patience skill of the Mercenary class, giving her a boost to hit and avoidance when taking her time on the battlefield to plan.
In her final form, black scales appear on her body in several spots (running from the back of her hands up her arms, along the outside of her thighs, up her back and along the back and sides of the neck up to the bottom of her jaw) and a threatening black aura appears around her in addition to the glowing eyes and brand when using her abilities. She gains access to powerful darkness-based spells, spells that immediately induce fear, and mid-tier elemental spells of wind (flying) and thunder types. Her physical prowess will be increased even further, along with dragon-type abilities. She’ll also gain access to
Rally Spectrum, which gives a dramatic stat boost to all nearby allies, and
Vengeance from the Sorcerer class, which lets her deal additional damage based on how much damage she’s taken. In addition, she’ll be able to float ominously. Like in the Smash Bros trailer. You saw that, right? That was awesome.
She’ll also start with a Levin Sword, which is a sword with a Thunder-typing. It can produce mild electricity, but its main point is that it allows her to use her S.Attack while using it. (Despite being able to use both magic and physical attacks, I imagine her S.Attack is still the higher stat.)
Starter Pokémon: Eevee.
Notes/Special Considerations: Just the stuff already outlined with the mods.
SAMPLESFirst-Person: BNW test-driveThird-Person: Robin paused, idly bringing up the fountain pen from the page and tapping her chin with it. This... questionnaire. It was getting rather ridiculous. She had expected some questions – she had heard that Union was completely closed off to outside society until just recently. She had expected the kinds of questions that she had been asked by the City Guard themselves; her name, age, her background. They hadn’t been happy to hear about the gaps in her memory. That she had
expected problems with. She had also prepared detailed counterpoints that she hadn’t even gotten to exercise.
Instead, after their initial questions, they sat her down in one of their offices and... gave her this. “What would you say the role of Pokémon is in your life?” Was this really the kind of question that would help them weed out an enemy?
And how was she supposed to answer that, anyway?
She ended her thought process. No, these questions were just a quick judge of character. And she was sure her true heart would let her pass this sort of thing. She scribbled down an answer – “Pokémon are no different from people. We forge bonds with them, and those bonds carry strength. By working together, you and your Pokémon can accomplish that which you can’t do on your own.” It was simple, it was truth.
She quickly scanned down. Nineteen more questions like this?
...No use fighting it. If she wanted into Union, it was something she’d have to do.
Now.... “What do you feel your role in Union is?”
This was going to be a long questionnaire.
